Movers: Dream realized with recruiting firm
BY STEFANIE MONGE
WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

A little more than 10 years after moving to Omaha from India, Sampy Gajre started CareerSearch Dynamics, a local recruiting firm.

Gajre said she had always dreamed of starting a business that would employ women and minorities, but she wasn't sure what kind.
Her sister in California, who operates a home school for children with disabilities, encouraged Gajre to work for herself, she said.

Gajre became interested in the recruiting field while attending graduate classes at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She worked as a recruiter at a local company for about a year and then decided to go out on her own.

Gajre started CareerSearch Dynamics in November 2007, focusing on information technology positions because she had experience in that field.

After about a year she hired another recruiter and expanded the company's work into the banking sector. Gajre said it quickly became apparent that portion of the business wouldn't thrive because of last September's meltdown in the financial sector.

She eventually decided to expand into the health-care and pharmaceutical fields, and is in the process of hiring someone to assist her. With another woman already recruiting in the Houston area, Gajre's company soon will have four female employees in just over a year.

"I created a career for myself from scratch," said Gajre, who said she wanted to set an example for other minority women.

Gajre belongs to the American Business Women's Association and volunteers at Millard West High School, helping students conduct mock job interviews.

Gajre eventually will have an office in UNO's new College of Business Administration, where she will assist students with résumés and job applications.
